Training is continuing; it's a non-stop activity. This summer for the first time ever, the dogs will run throughout the summer. We are doing an informational demonstration 4 times weekly for tourists; surprisingly for me, it has been fun.
It is likely that I will be entering the Shelter team in the Quest this fall. We are still a few dogs short of a full Quest team; there are plenty of good dogs out there in the Shelters, but our yard is full now with some extra retired dogs.
Chime is open for adoption; Her age is unknown, I'm guessing 8 or 9. she is very personable; needs a ski-jour or house-dog home. she is 4-time Yukon Quest veteran, including this year. She has never been dropped or injured. Contact us by e-mail.
I will try to answer any training questions you may have to the best of my ability. There may be a time lag due to us having no phone or e-mail at the Maclaren River dog-yard.

We have been introducing our SCL dogs to the pups in the Kennel. Some of these Shelter dogs do not necessarily have good socialization skills. All have improved. Pups run loose in the dogyard until they are approximately 4 months old. They interact with the adults, and the adults learn to tolerate adolescent behaviors.
We still have a little snow; not enough to run dogs on, but too much for the cart. Hopefully we will be on the cart within the week.

Today we had free running time for about 15 dogs; they were allowed to wander around the yard at will. After about an hour all but 2; Flash and a dog named Drake had gone back to their house and laid down. Flash was playing with the loose puppy; Sabine, and Drake found a piece of old moose hide to chew on. The dogs were loosely monitered at all times; there was no growling or aggressive behavior of any kind, though plenty of barking from the tied dogs.
